"The rectangle becomes the most minimal form of expression; a tabula rasa. On the one hand, it is a basic building form, and on the other the sign for the human capacity for abstraction. In the process of pictorial development the superimposing, juxtaposing, positioning, and elimination of a form acquires its own dynamics that continuously gives rise to new images. Painting becomes a complex existential act, a constant balance between affirmation and negation. The work is based on rules that render this ongoing process of change visible. Painting is a steady stream of making things both visible and invisible."
