Protests erupt in Ukraine with violent clashes between government opponents and police, injuring around 200 people on both sides in the previous 24 hours. Tear gas, stun grenades, and rubber bullets on one side are met with stones, fireworks, and incendiary devices on the other. The government wants  to clear the Maidan. President Viktor Yanukovych’s pressure to  restrict the right to demonstrate is the trigger for the protests. The Ukrainian Interior Ministry issues a decree that security forces may also use live ammunition against demonstrators.
