It is the eleventh day of protests in Turkey. The previous day, the police had used water cannons and tear gas against demonstrators. But they are not intimidated, and demand the preservation of the small Gezi Park as a green oasis in the city center. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has meanwhile distanced himself from his plan to build a shopping center there. He is now talking about a cultural center.
